THE WRITER’S MIND. There is some ancient wisdom that claims adults are undesirable unless they act like inquisitive bumbling lovable small children. I think they are some of the wisest words ever written. I also find it harder to find these people as each year passes. I wrote Harms Way ( HW ) Orientation in the spirit of the childhood genius Gordan Korman to inspire more to embrace the same wisdom I choose to live by and celebrate.
As I quietly explored the theatre and entertainment industry I found a world at odds with my mindset. They often make fun of the characters they portray instead of trying to live inside of them. They embrace an intellectual analysis of a script they are unqualified to write and attribute motives and reasonings of their own creation instead of appreciating the beauty of unexplained art as it stands. I decided to explore other avenues to keep the artistic creativity of my creation intact.
THE GIST ( WITHOUT SPOILERS ). Aliens are smart. What if they decided to enjoy life on Earth instead of destroying it? What if they like the human body more than their own form? What if they wanted to drink beer and dance instead of raging through the universe like maniacs? What if their biggest problem was social structure and human culture?
HW Orientation is the story of an alien race dealing with survival but seduced by the wealth and life of Earth. They struggle with the thought conflict of trading their own identity to enjoy and assimilate a foreign way of life. The civil discord that this prompts and the path it creates drives the story and becomes the seed that germinates into the Harms Way Universe.
